Lectio Divina January 17, 2021
Fr. Lito Gamboa, our Spiritual Director, explains the elements of Lectio Divina. We reflected on the readings of 3rd Week of Sunday in Ordinary Time. Fr. Lito explained that the Mission of Jesus is parallel to what Prophet Isaiah declared in the First reading. Jesus made his declaration of his Mission in Capernaum yet people turned him down being the son of the carpenter. Indeed, no prophet is heeded by people of his town or country. What is your Mission? If you encounter a resistance to your plans, what would you do?
Saint Anthony of Padua adoring the Christ Child
Oil on canvas, 1622 by Antonio de Pereda.
“And entering into the house, they found the child with Mary his mother, and falling down they adored him; and opening their treasures, they offered him gifts; gold, frankincense, and myrrh.” Matthew 2:11
Our community's name was lovingly taken from Infant Jesus that greatly depicts the divine mission of Jesus from being a God born to human flesh to bring about our salvation. It also shows that like baby Jesus, we should be meek and humble of heart, imbued with innocence, and always ready to learn new things, eager to take up roles and full of energy. Fr. Lito Gamboa is enjoining all of us to have a great devotion to the Infant Jesus, which is so beautiful and full of meaning. Fortunately, some members of the CSL had learned that St. Padre Pio was a very strong devotee to the Infant Jesus, that there had been apparitions to him of the baby Jesus especially during Christmas eve. The Magi had worshipped Infant Jesus while bringing in their offerings, after negotiating a long journey, and as they were guided by a star and a throng of angels.
We, therefore invite you all to learn more and start to have a deep devotion to the Infant Jesus so we could live up to the name of our community. -Bro Jay Tallada

Adoration of the Magi
Gerard David, Adoration of the Kings, National Gallery, London, circa 1515
The Adoration of the Magi or Adoration of the Kings is the name traditionally given to the subject in the Nativity of Jesus in art in which the three Magi, represented as kings, especially in the West, having found Jesus by following a star, lay before him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, and worship him. It is related in the Bible by Matthew 2:11: "On entering the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother; and they knelt down and paid him homage. Then, opening their treasure chests, they offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another path".

Miraculous Chaplet of the Holy Infant Jesus
How to pray the Chaplet of the Infant Jesus
It is a powerful devotion that has many special graces attached to its faithful recitation.
Among the many devotions to the Child Jesus, the Chaplet of the Infant Jesus is one that is rarely seen. Smaller than the Rosary, the Chaplet of the Infant Jesus has only 15 beads.
The Chaplet was introduced by Venerable Marguerite of the Holy-Sacrament, a French Carmelite nun who lived in the 17th century. It is believed that Marguerite had a vision of Jesus and he gave her this chaplet, promising special graces to those who recited it in faith.
Marguerite had a special devotion to the Infant Jesus throughout her life and encouraged all people to develop a similar devotion. She once said, “Consider the Child Jesus in the Crib, small and helpless, who is giving himself entirely to you …The Holy Infant Jesus has more care of our souls and our needs than we would have ourselves.”
Here’s how to pray the special chaplet. Begin with the following prayer:
Divine Infant Jesus, I adore Thy Cross and I accept all the cross Thou wilt be pleased to send me. Adorable Trinity,I offer Thee for the glory of Thy Holy Name of God, all the adorations of the Sacred Heart of the Holy Infant Jesus.
Then recite the “Our Father” 3 times in honor of the Holy Family
Before each “Our Father” say, “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us.”
Recite 12 “Hail Marys” while reflecting on the childhood of the Infant Jesus
Similarly, before each “Hail Mary” say, “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us.”
At the end of the chaplet pray, “Holy Infant Jesus, bless and protect us.”

Pray this miraculous prayer to the Infant Jesus
O Child Jesus, I have recourse to You through Your Holy Mother; I implore You to assist me in this necessity, for I firmly believe that Your Divinity can assist me. I confidently hope to obtain Your holy grace. I love You with my whole heart and my whole soul. I am heartily sorry for my sins, and entreat You, O good Jesus, to give me strength to overcome them. I am firmly resolved never to offend You again and to suffer everything rather than displease You. Henceforth, I wish to serve You faithfully. For love of You, O divine Child, I will love my neighbor as myself. O Jesus, omnipotent Child, I entreat You again to come to my assistance in this necessity. [Mention it here].
Grant me the grace of possessing You eternally with Mary and Joseph and of adoring You with Your Holy Angels and Saints. Amen.
